In Largo, Florida, a 41-year-old woman named Sabrina Peckham was found lifeless in a waterway, trapped in the jaws of a 13-foot alligator on a Saturday afternoon. The incident occurred around 2 pm local time on a Friday, and it was reported by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
A neighbor, JaMarcus Bullard, made the grim discovery and immediately called 911. He described how the alligator lifted itself out of the water while holding onto the victim before swimming backward to the other side of the canal, leaving everyone in shock.
Authorities, including deputies and officers from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, responded to the scene. They had to “humanely kill” the alligator to retrieve Sabrina Peckham’s remains with the assistance of a dive team.
The circumstances leading up to this tragic discovery remain undisclosed, and the Pinellas County medical examiner is currently investigating the cause and manner of Sabrina Peckham’s death. The investigation is ongoing.
