During its Independence Day celebrations, Ukraine conducted a special joint operation with its Navy, planting its flag on the Russian-annexed Crimean peninsula.
Despite being internationally recognized as part of Ukraine, Crimea has been under Russian control since 2014. Ukrainian special forces landed on the western shore of Crimea, engaging in combat near Olenivka and Mayak, leading to enemy losses and destruction of equipment.
The Ukrainian state flag was raised once again in Crimea as a result. In previous statements, Ukraine has referred to the peninsula as “temporarily occupied.” Recently, Ukraine claimed to have destroyed a Russian S-400 anti-aircraft system and has been accused by Moscow of attacking the Crimean bridge.
