A tragic incident unfolded as a final year student at the Petroleum Training Institute in Effurun, Delta State, was electrocuted while installing solar panels on a one-story building. This unfortunate event took place in the vicinity of a commercial bank at the Warri Garage Area on Thursday, October 19, 2023.
According to witnesses, the student’s aluminum ladder became magnetized by the nearby high-tension wires that connected to the commercial bank. Consequently, he suffered an electric shock during the installation process. A passerby bravely used a long dry plank to detach the aluminum ladder from the vibrating high-tension wires, rescuing the unconscious young man.
The final-year PTI student, who was in the midst of working on his final project at the time, was immediately taken to a nearby private clinic for medical attention. Tragically, he passed away shortly after arriving at the clinic.
The late student, who lived with his parents in the Bowen Avenue area, was laid to rest in his home state in one of the South-East states on Saturday, October 28, 2023.
