A tragic incident unfolded at Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA) in Katsina State, where a 200-level Computer Science student named Abubakar lost his life during a dispute over a girlfriend. The confrontation took place in the Darawa quarters of Dutsinma Local Government Area, causing shockwaves within the institution.
Katsina State Police Command’s spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, explained that the incident began as a heated argument among eight students and quickly escalated, resulting in the unfortunate death of one of the students involved. The police are actively investigating the matter, collecting evidence and statements from witnesses to understand the sequence of events while ensuring justice and fairness.
Six students related to the altercation have been taken into custody, and the police have clarified that the incident was not related to any religious issues, dispelling rumors circulating on social media. They urge the public to avoid baseless speculations.
The police will provide updates on the investigation to maintain transparency and encourage anyone with information about the incident to come forward, promising confidentiality.
