In a competition recently organised by The Institute Of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) of the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Ogun state district society, tagged “Catch Them Young”, The Gem International Schools, represented by Mr. Omotayo Arinola and Ms. Blessing Amosu came first and fourth respectively.
The merit award, given to Omotayo Arinola will cover full scholarship upon his admission in a tertiary institution to study Accounting.
The competition, aimed at reaching out to students who aspire to become Chartered Accountants in the future had Senior Secondary Students in the Yewa/Awori area examined in a computer based test consisting of fifty (50) multiple choice questions in the field of Mathematics, English Language, Accounts, Economics, Commerce as well as Current Affairs.
According to the School Principal, Princess Adekunbi Odubiyi, who gave kudos to the Accounting teachers (Mr. Emmanuel Adeokun and Ms. Adewumi Oluwatosin) for their excellent job in preparing the students for the competition, this success signals the dawn of a new day for the school, with the opening of new chapters in all areas.
She further reiterated that the school will not rest on its oars in providing 21st century qualitative education, aimed at creating geniuses that will one day become world changers.
