A 17-year-old boy named Ayomiposi Esan allegedly stole multiple items, including three mobile phones, two generator sets, a sound system, and a Toyota Corolla car from his parents, Mr. Oluwafemi and Mrs. Tosin, in Ogijo, Ogun State. He locked his parents inside the house and fled with the stolen goods on September 3, 2023.
Local residents had to help free the parents from their locked apartment. After reporting the incident to the Ogijo Divisional Police Station, Superintendent of Police Awode Olatunde and his team pursued and arrested Ayomiposi in Lagos while he was attempting to sell the stolen items.
However, the parents opposed prosecuting their son and requested the return of both him and the stolen property. Consequently, the police, considering community policing and the family’s wishes, released the teenager with his belongings on bond. Ayomiposi received counseling and warnings to avoid further delinquent behavior.
