Redeemed church suspends two pastors over homosexuality allegations

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has suspended two of its pastors; Ayorinde AdeBello and Oke Mayowa following allegations of homosexuality.

The church says it’s decision comes as the church remains committed to upholding its biblical principles and ensuring strict adherence to its doctrines.

In an internal memo signed by Pastor Sunday Akande, the RCCG’s national overseer, addressed to the Special Assistant to the General Overseer on Administration, the church emphasised its zero-tolerance policy on homosexuality. The memo highlighted scriptural passages such as Leviticus 18:22 and 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, which form the foundation of the church’s stance on moral conduct.

“These allegations are being addressed with the utmost seriousness,” stated Pastor Akande.

“In line with the teachings of the Bible, we are dedicated to addressing this matter in a manner that aligns with our values and mission.”

Both Pastor AdeBello and Dcn. Oke Mayowa, along with any other implicated individuals, will be relieved from their duties within all church ministries pending the investigation’s conclusion. The investigation, expected to be completed within two weeks, will be conducted confidentially to ensure respect for all parties involved.

The memo has been copied to the General Overseer, various church departments, and relevant RCCG personnel to ensure thorough handling of the situation.

RCCG has reaffirmed its commitment to addressing issues with integrity and dedication to its principles as a leading Christian organisation.
