In Lagos, a police officer named Kabiru Odeyemi has been dismissed by the Lagos State Police Command for his involvement in the shooting of a 24-year-old generator repairer, Idris Bakare.
The dismissal was confirmed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, via a Twitter post. Odeyemi’s arraignment is scheduled to take place on Friday, July 7, 2023.
The Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, has assured the people of Lagos of his commitment to uphold the rule of law, civility, and respect for human life.
The incident occurred when Odeyemi and other policemen arrived at the scene of a fight on Oregun Road, resulting in the shooting of Bakare, who later succumbed to his injuries.
