The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended Pastor Taiwo Odebiyi for allegedly setting a 21-year-old woman, Sukura Owodunni, on fire during a deliverance session at the Cherubim and Seraphim, Maberu Parish in Offin, Sagamu.
The incident occurred on August 17, after the pastor instructed Owodunni to buy special items for the prayer. As he prayed for her, the pastor poured perfume on her and lit a candle, causing her to catch fire and sustain severe burns on her chest, shoulder, and legs.
The police promptly arrested the suspect, and an investigation is underway. The victim is receiving medical attention, although she’s reportedly responsible for her own medical bills. The case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department after initial investigations are completed.
