The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Osun has apprehended six individuals suspected of stealing energy. These suspects were caught during a joint operation with the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) in the Ota-Efun area of Osogbo. They have reportedly admitted to the theft.
The NSCDC’s state commandant, Mr. Sunday Agboola, has urged the public to support their efforts in protecting critical national assets by reporting any vandalism activities to the corps. In addition to these energy theft suspects, the command also arrested a 40-year-old man, Sodiq Ayanleye, for allegedly defrauding a victim of N13 million. Ayanleye deceived the victim by promising to purchase 5 plots of land in Ikorodu, Lagos State, for him.
These fraudulent actions are in violation of the criminal code of conduct (section 419) and the advanced fee fraud and other related offences act of 2006 (section one). The NSCDC’s state commandant has assured the public that these suspects will face prosecution in a competent court to deter others from engaging in similar offenses.
