Numerous Nigerians who came to the UK with hopes of finding employment through skilled worker visas are now facing dire circumstances, including destitution.
They were lured by promises of jobs made by agents in Nigeria, but upon arrival, they discovered the jobs were nonexistent. Many are now reliant on food banks for survival and even sleeping on the streets.
Despite their skills and ambitions, they find themselves in an unfortunate situation that contrasts with their aspirations.
The Nigerian Community Centre in Greater Manchester is providing assistance to some of these individuals, highlighting the distressing reality that a significant number of those who sought skilled worker visas are now in need of support, which is deeply concerning and reflects the extent of the issue.
