Controversial singer Naira Marley, also known as Azeez Fashola, has been taken into custody by the Lagos State Police Command in connection with the controversial death of his former record label signee, Mohbad (real name: Ilerioluwa Aloba). The Lagos State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed Naira Marley’s detention, stating that it’s for interrogation and other investigative purposes.
Naira Marley had announced his return to Lagos to cooperate with authorities in the ongoing probe into Mohbad’s death, expressing a commitment to uncover the truth and ensure justice prevails.
Earlier, the police had invited Naira Marley and music promoter Balongun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry (who is now in police custody), for questioning regarding Mohbad’s demise. The autopsy on Mohbad has been completed, with the police awaiting the results. This came after a joint team of the Nigeria Police Force and health officials exhumed Mohbad’s body.
Additionally, the nurse who administered an injection to the deceased singer before his death on September 12 was arrested. A coroner’s inquest into Mohbad’s death began at the Lagos State Magistrate’s Court in Ikorodu last Friday.
