On Thursday, the Ogun State Police command reported that a man named Seun was rescued from the debris of a collapsed building in the Old Bank area of Ifo, in Ifo Local Government Area.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident and mentioned that the victim is currently undergoing treatment at Demark Hospital. The affected area has been cordoned off, and the Local Government Authority has been contacted to seal it off.
The collapsed building had been deteriorating for some time before it finally gave way at around 5:20 p.m. on Wednesday. Fortunately, there were no casualties, but the victim was trapped for hours as the stairs of the collapsed building fell on him.
In a brief video shared on social media, residents joined forces to rescue the victim from the rubble. They worked to pull him out of what appeared to be a confined space, and he appeared unconscious, prompting them to request water to be poured over him.
