Armed with placards while singing solidarity songs in protest over non-payment of their two-year salaries, about 30 Magistrates in Cross River State yesterday(Monday), blocked the second gate leading to Governor Ben Ayade’s office in Calabar.
The state’s Chief Magistrate, Solomon Abuo, said the protest was their last resort after several pleas and correspondences to the state government yielded no desired result.
They threatened to boycott courts if the government failed to meet their demands.
They also claimed that nobody from the governor’s office was willing to address the magistrates, claiming that both Governor Ayade and his deputy, Professor Ivara Esu, were not available in the office.
