Lagos Police Intercept Suspected N13 Million Indian Hemp Haul, Arrest Two Men


Two men have been apprehended by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly transporting substances suspected to be Indian hemp with an estimated value of N13 million. The incident took place along Mushin, Isolo Road in the Isolo area of Lagos State.

According to a statement released by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the illicit drugs were being transported by Fidelis Otiga, aged 49, and Chukwuma Kennedy, aged 50, in a Toyota Sienna car with the license plate number KJA 118 HV.

The interception and subsequent arrest occurred last Wednesday at around 11:56 pm when the vehicle was stopped by policemen from the Aswani Police Division during a routine stop-and-search operation.

The statement confirmed that the substances suspected to be Indian hemp, valued at approximately N13 million, were found in the suspects’ vehicle. Following the arrest, both the suspects and the seized exhibit were transferred to the command headquarters for further investigation and prosecution.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, reiterated his commitment to combatting drug misuse and abuse within the state. He also assured residents of their safety and the police force’s dedication to maintaining law and order.
