Aboru Estate residents in Lagos State, took to the streets on Wednesday to protest the high cost associated with the Band A electricity tariff.
Band A customers are entitled to a minimum of 20 hours of electricity supply daily, but Aboru residents voiced concerns over the high charges and demanded a reclassification to Band B.
Protesters carried placards with messages such as, “Re-migrate our communities to Band B. Electricity is a right, not a privilege. Scrap all bands; stop the inequality. This tariff is unjust. Enough is enough.”
Currently, customers under Band C receive a minimum of 12 hours of electricity daily, while Band D customers get 8 hours, and Band E customers receive just 4 hours of supply.
