The Gombe State Police Command has verified the kidnapping of two individuals in the Shabewa community of Dukku Local Government Area by criminals. The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mahid Abubakar, stated that they would collaborate with the local vigilante group to secure the timely release of the victims.
The State Commissioner of Police, Oqua Etim, has dispatched officers to ensure the safe release of the two captives, whose identities are not yet known. It’s worth noting that in an earlier interview with The PUNCH in September, the command reported that 67 people had gone missing in the state between January and September 2023.
Abubakar mentioned, “The abduction involves one male and one female from Shabewa community in Dukku Local Government Area. The Commissioner of Police has deployed an operational team to join forces with the vigilante group to rescue the victims unharmed. They are currently pursuing the criminals in the bush.”
