A tragic incident occurred in Makoko, Yaba, Lagos State, where a 13-year-old girl named Taiye Ojo lost her life due to electrocution. It happened on Saturday when Taiye was heading towards the toilet within her residence and encountered a barking dog.
Frightened by the dog’s behavior, she attempted to run away from its reach. Unfortunately, while trying to escape, Taiye accidentally touched the outdoor unit of an air conditioner, resulting in electrocution.
Prompt action was taken, and Taiye was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where her death was confirmed. The incident caused distress among the residents of the house and the surrounding neighbors. The Sabo Police Station was promptly notified, and they initiated an investigation into the matter.
Following Islamic traditions, Taiye’s body was laid to rest after the necessary funeral rites were performed. The police report documented the unfortunate sequence of events, stating that Taiye was startled by the barking dog while en route to the toilet.
In her attempt to evade the dog, she inadvertently came into contact with the window unit air conditioner, which led to her electrocution. The Station’s Divisional Police Officer (DPO) led a team of officers and detectives to the scene, but Taiye had already been rushed to the hospital, where she tragically passed away.
