Foremost financial institution in Nigeria, First Bank of Nigeria Limited, has extended its agency banking network to 14 major markets and business points across Bayelsa, Cross River and Delta states through a campaign.
The bank said in a statement that the campaign was part of efforts to deepen financial inclusion in Nigeria.
It said the market activation, which spanned over three weeks between November 24 and December 16, 2018, was an intensive period of customer engagement, education and awareness creation of the Firstmonie Agent Network and by extension, financial inclusion.
The statement read in part, “In just about 18 months, the Firstmonie Agent network has expanded to almost every local government area in Nigeria, with 98 per cent coverage.
“This demonstrates our readiness to make financial services available to everyone irrespective of their location.”
The bank said its Firstmonie agents were positioned within rural and semi-urban locations across the country to provide basic financial services such as account opening, cash deposit, cash withdrawals, airtime purchase, bill payments and much more to every Nigerian.
It said it was committed to providing convenient services that endeared trust, provide ease of access to financial products, thereby saving time and travel costs.
The Group Head, eBusiness, First Bank, Chuma Ezirim, said “With our Firstmonie agents spread across the country, we are aggressive at increasing the penetration of financial services, especially in the suburbs, while significantly reducing the unbanked in the country.
