Foremost financial institution, First Bank of Nigeria Limited has expressed its commitment to helping young entrepreneurs in the food and agriculture sectors to grow.
During a food and drink fair organised by the bank in partnership with an event planning company, Eventful Limited in Lagos, the bank created an opportunity for budding entrepreneurs to showcase and sell their products.
The event was attended by entrepreneurs and customers who came in with their relatives to enjoy and relax at the occasion.
During the event, different activities were organised to make the programme lively, such as cooking competition and distribution of freebies.
The Convener of the event, Mrs Yewande Zaccheaus, who is also the chief executive officer of Eventful, said, the programme was organised to provide a platform for entrepreneurs in the food and agriculture space, to promote their products.
She said, “It gives them the opportunity to come face to face with their target market, the people who are interested in their product. And as an event planner, it gives us the opportunity to showcase our talent in organising events. It is a win-win event; we are able to make the whole of Lagos come to the event.”
According to her, the annual programme provided an opportunity, especially for the emerging entrepreneurs who probably did not have stores, but were doing online retail to meet with those who needed their products.
She said, “The programme is helping to empower the budding entrepreneurs, people who are new in the business are able to scale up the business. Those growing are able to grow their business.”
According to her, past annual events featured food, beauty and fashion entrepreneurs who participated and showcased what they had.
To be part of the programme, she said interested entrepreneurs were asked to register online.
