Ayodele Fayose, Ekiti State Governor, and some Nigerians have berated the Federal Government over the cancellation of yesterday’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
Fayose, who spoke through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, described the reason given for the cancellation of meeting as funny, saying: “Is it not funny that the same Federal Government that declared public holidays forgot that there would be a Tuesday after the public holidays and FEC meeting will be held on Wednesday?
“Methinks they should look for another lie next week because the reality is that President Muhammadu Buhari does not have the required mental capacity and strength to rule Nigeria and I maintain that he should consider his health as well as the overall interests of Nigeria and resign.”
In the same vein, some Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital residents, who were angry over the inability of the Federal Government to hold the crucial meeting, said Nigeria, at the moment, does not need excuses.
A political analyst in the state, Omenazu Jackson, pointed out that Nigerians have high expectations from the government, especially on ways to assuage their sufferings, adding that Nigerians can no longer tolerate such excuses from the Presidency.
He said: “Nigerians have high expectations, so, government should not continue to toy with the citizens. This is not acceptable, even the two days holidays were loss of man-hour, they should have used that period to prepare the documents needed for the FEC meeting to address the sufferings of Nigerians.
“There are several issues that needed urgent attention like, the doctors’ strike, the ASUU’s strike, flood problems, so much hunger in the country, lack of jobs, yet, the Federal Government seems to be sleeping.”
He charged President Muhammadu Buhari and the ministers to sit up and address the several problems facing the country.
