detained Managing Director of Medview Airline, Muneer Bankole, has been released by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on bail.
The suspect allegedly diverted 50 per cent of funds paid to him by the National Hajj Commission, and an additional $900,000 for the airlift of pilgrims in 2019, which he allegedly failed to execute.
He was detained on Monday afternoon at the headquarters of the EFCC in Jabi, Abuja.
The EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, said that Bankole has been released on bail, adding that investigation into the allegations against him was ongoing.
“He was released on bail this week,” Uwujaren said.
Meanwhile, the airline has said that the fund meant for the 2019 Hajj were utilised for necessary preparations including aircraft maintenance and payment to service providers.
