Around 35 individuals are feared to have lost their lives in an explosion at an illegal oil refining site in Ibas Community, Emuoha Local Government Area of Rivers State. The incident took place late Sunday night as more than 40 people from neighboring areas like Isiokpo, Ibaa, and Oduoha were involved in scooping and packaging crude oil.
The fire erupted from a nearby refining site, leading to seven deaths inside the pit where they were working and approximately 10 individuals being severely burned. Sadly, about 30 people lost their lives at the site, while over 15 were rushed to the hospital, with reports indicating that three of them have also passed away during transit to the hospital.
