The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has recorded 661 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 19,808. This was made known on Saturday.
The NCDC also said COVID-19 fatalities have increased to 506 in the country.
It said, “On the 20th of June 2020, 661 new confirmed cases and 19 deaths were recorded in Nigeria.
“No new state has reported a case in the last 24 hours.
“Till date, 19808 cases have been confirmed, 6718 cases have been discharged and 506 deaths have been recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
“The 661 new cases are reported from 14 states- Lagos(230), Rivers(127), Delta(83), FCT(60), Oyo(51), Edo(31),Bayelsa(27), Kaduna(25), Plateau(13), Ondo(6), Nasarawa(3), Ekiti(2), Kano(2), Borno(1).”
Globally, the novel coronavirus has killed at least 461,665 people since the outbreak began in China last December.
At least 8,742,490 cases of coronavirus have been registered in 196 countries and territories. Of these, at least 4,064,300 are considered recovered.
The countries with the most new deaths are Brazil with 1,206, followed by the United States with 702, and Mexico with 647.
Europe overall has 192,432 deaths from 2,506,305 cases, the United States and Canada 127,915 deaths from 2,341,576 infections, Latin America and the Caribbean 91,835 deaths from 1,966,918 cases, Asia 28,255 deaths from 992,857 cases, Middle East 13,260 deaths from 630,463 cases, Africa 7,837 deaths from 295,528 cases, and Oceania 131 deaths from 8,846 cases.
