40 Year-old marriage threatened
Nearly 70 year-old man, Christopher Akinrinawo told the Agege Grade A Customary Court that his wife of 40years, Mrs. Caroline Akinrinawo is no longer fit to be his wife because the 60year-old woman has continued to place curses on him, and has not been giving the desired peace.
In his words, he alleged ‘she is not well-mannered, she commits adultery and also, very fetish.’
Stating further, he said ‘when I have no money, she abandoned me and relocated to Ghana with a man for five years. She never bothered about me and the children, but now she wants to take over a property i built for myself’.
‘On two occasions, she had stripped herself naked threatening that she would place a curse on me, to return to poverty.’
She has also planned to set the house on fire if i dare her. This is a woman who does not cook for me but prefers to stay at her daughter’s house.’
‘I have lost interest in her despite the fact that I have married her since 1974. I urge the court to separate this marriage, so that she can go her own way’.
In her response, Caroline said that there is nowhere she can go now; she is in the marriage to enjoy the fruit of her labour.
The 60 year-old woman admitted that it was true that she relocated to Ghana at some point, but she had to do so because of her numerous debts.
According to her, she was in Ghana to work as maid in order to raise money to train her children.
The president of the court, Mr. P. A. Williams adjourned the case for mediation.
