A pastor in charge of Celestial Church of Christ, CCC ILERI OLUWA PARISH, LASU 2, Shepherd, Sup. Evang. Whepetoji Babaniyeh has been arrested for killing Ogubode Quadri Adedamola.

Adedamola, a 28-year-old graduate of Political Science from Lagos State University and CEO of Horlar Edu Consultancy runs a private business at the LASU Campus.

The news first broke via  Celestial Reality, a Facebook page that specialises in reporting Celestial Church events. It was reported that, Adedamola had gone missing on January 16.

Findings revealed that, he was traced to the church when his girlfriend revealed that, the deceased told her that, he was at the premises of the church, during their last conversation.

However, Evangelist Babaniyeh upon killing his victim, proceeded to bury his remains near the church premises, with guns and axe used to commit the crime also discovered by the police, the report said.

It also said that the killer pastor had earlier denied knowledge of Adedamola’s whereabouts but surrendered after he was confronted with proof of the N1.5m he withdrew from his victim’s account.

“According to his girlfriend, she called him the day he went missing — and he said was in front of the church, CCC ILERI OLUWA PARISH, LASU 2, and would call back later.

“Police visited the church based on the girlfriend’s narration and the Shepherd denied seeing him on the said day nor knowing about his whereabouts.

“Police intensified the investigation, and got his bank statement. They discovered that N1.5m was transferred from the guy’s account on the day he went missing.

“A certain amount went into the Shepherd’s bank account, his daughter’s own, among others.

“The shepherd, Sup. Evang. Whepetoji Babaniyeh initially denied receiving the money but later claimed it was for Thanksgiving when police showed him evidence. This led to his detention for further investigation.

“It has now been reported that the guy’s body has been discovered where it was buried near the church premises.

“He was buried under the shepherd’s supervision. Gun and axe were also recovered from the shepherd,” the publication wrote.

However, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin is yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
