Car dealer Olatubosun Gafar is in distress after a customer named Segun Opeyemi sent him a fake alert for N6.2 million and absconded with a Toyota Camry 2014 model Spyder from his dealership in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.
Opeyemi initially expressed interest in the car, made payment, and even sent the receipt to Gafar on WhatsApp. Later, Opeyemi requested a test drive and a trip to a nearby bank to withdraw money. During the journey, Opeyemi informed Gafar that he was on his way to show his mother the new car.
While waiting for the completion of paperwork at the dealer’s office, Opeyemi gave Gafar N50,000 and promised to return in 10 minutes for the receipt and number plate. However, Opeyemi never returned, and it was later discovered that the payment was a fake alert.
Gafar reported the incident to the police, and investigations are ongoing to apprehend the fraudster.
