The local government of Oleh in Delta state witnessed one of the most embarrassing situations in recent time when one of the respected members of the community, Rev. (Mrs.) Felicia, the General Overseer of a thriving pentecostal church in Warri had her wedding ceremony disrupted.
According to TOP NEWS sources, Rev. Felicia lost her husband barely two years ago, and decided to re-marry some weeks back. Her choice however, is a young married pastor who many believe is a gold digger.
The relationship between Rev. Felicia and her younger lover, Chukwunedu Offor (otherwise known as Nedu), polarised the relationship between the female pastor and her four grown up children; two males and two females. It happened that recently, Rev. (Mrs.) Felicia, having defied all pleas and warnings by family and friends including the state chapter of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) group not to engage in a scandalous marriage with Nedu, went ahead to fix a date for the marriage when reality hit her in the face that her children had not taken things lightly.
Nedu, whose wife had just given birth to their new baby, before abandoning her home for another marriage, had brought drinks and had come to take Rev. Felicia’s hand in marriage according to tradition, unfortunately for him, he got more than he bargained for on this fateful day.
Not operating alone in his game of bigamy, he was said to have the support of his elder brother (head of his family). Nedu’s elder brother is believed to be against his younger brother’s legal wife named Nkem. His reason is that, his brother’s wife had been rude to him on few occasions, hence his support for the new woman. On the day of the ceremony, elders of Rev. (Mrs.) Felicia’s clan had sat in preparedness to commence activities. Members of the PFN and few friends were also present, including Nedu’s brother who sat as the father of the groom. Barely minutes into the event, Nedu’s legal wife, Nkem surfaced with their few months old baby and trouble started. Nedu, on sighting his wife and baby shouted at his wife who strapped her baby to her back. The woman, who was cursing and shouting attracted so much attention that Rev. Felicia’s eldest son, a young man was embarrassed, walked up to his mother and gave her a slap for bringing shame into the family.
Meanwhile, some youths who are friends of Rev. Felicia’s children- who were not happy with the groom-to-be and his brother, got furious. Nedu’s brother (acting as the father of the groom) tried to mediate but the angry youths pounced on him and gave him beatings like an erring child. Elders of Rev. Felicia’s family, who knew things could get worse, rescued him and he fled through the back door. Nedu apparently aware of what the youths could do, had abandoned his ender brother, all the drinks and most especially, his bride-to-be and fled the scene for fear of becoming the next victim.
He had since dumped the idea of planning another marriage with the woman, at least for now because, he no longer frequents the female pastor’s home again.
