Femi Fani-Kayode, the former Minister of Aviation, who has been in detention for the past 24 days, yesterday, regained his freedom.
Fani-Kayode, who was the Director of Media and Publicity in the campaign team of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, was released after he perfected the bail conditions handed to him by the Abuja Federal High Court.
He is answering to a five-count charge preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. The charge borders on alleged N26million fraud.
Trial Justice John Tsoho had on Thursday, ordered remand of the defendant at Kuje Prison in Abuja, pending perfection of his bail terms.
The court specifically granted the ex-Minister bail to the tune of N50m, even as he was also ordered to produce one surety in like sum.
According to the court, the surety must not only be resident in Abuja, but must also be an owner of a landed property within the Federal Capital Territory.
Besides, Fani-Kayode was ordered to surrender his international passport.
Meanwhile, speaking to journalist shortly after he was released, Fani-Kayode who was received by his wife and friends, said he was glad to be out of Kuje Prison.
