Mr Anthony Elishama, secretary of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Adamawa State chapter, has been suspended for three months over alleged N1.35m misappropriation.
The association also directed the suspended scribe to refund the amount within the period of his suspension.
It was reported that Elishama was further asked to return all official properties, including vehicle and documents, to the secretariat.
According to a statement issued by the state Chairman of CAN, Bishop Stephen Mamza, Elishama’s suspension followed the unanimous decision adopted during the state executive meeting of the association on Thursday.
“Mr Anthony Elishama’s suspension is as a result of mismanaging funds belonging to the Nigerian Inter-Religious Council to the tune of N1.35m. The state executive of the Christian Association of Nigeria expressed disappointment at the secretary’s action,” Mamza said, adding that the CAN leadership in the state had zero tolerance for financial indiscipline.
He said Elishama’s suspension took effect from June 20, 2020, pending the state executive committee’s final decision on the issue.
