The Association of Corporate Affairs Managers of Banks (ACAMB), has strongly condemned the murder of an articulated vehicle driver, Tunde Azeez by a policeman and the subsequent mob attack on two Banks operating on Creek Road, Apapa Lagos.
In a statement made available to Topnews and signed by the president of ACAMB Mr. Charles Aigbe, the association states thus: “We (Association of Corporate Affairs Managers of Banks) commiserate with the family of the slain driver while emphathasing the staff at the two banks for the physical and psychological trauma they were subjected to by the rampaging tanker drivers”.
While noting the obvious frustration of the tanker drivers occasioned by the act of the killer cop, ACAMB denounce in its entirety the unwarranted arson perpetrated against the two Banks operating lawfully in the Apapa Business Area.
The statement issued by the secretary general of the association, Mr. Rasheed Bolarinwa, further stated that there is absolutely no basis to attack lawful institutions operating and serving the interest of the Banking public. The barbaric action of the mob, not only constitutes a threat to lawful business entities, but is also an affront on decency that has no place in a modern Nigeria.
ACAMB calls on the authorities to ensure that the cop and those remotely or otherwise connected to this despicable attack are made to face the full wrath of the law.
Whilst commending the swift response of the State Police Command in arresting perpetrators of the arson and the killer cop, ACAMB also said, “we appreciate other security agencies, especially the Signal Corps of the Nigerian Army and men of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command for coming to the rescue of the innocent Bank workers caught up in the fracas.
