Fulani Herdsmen storm Ilogbo community as 6 killed, 3 abducted

Ilogbo, a small community in Otta, Ogun State, has once again fallen victim to an attack by suspected Fulani herdsmen. The latest assault took place late in night of Friday, January 12, 2024.

An eyewitness, Adeyemi Samson, a resident of the community, confirmed to this newspaper that the attackers, armed with sophisticated weapons, stormed the area, firing sporadically into the air and targeting anyone in sight. The attack sent residents scrambling for safety in a bid to escape the assailants.

By the time the dust settled, six bodies were counted, with three others—Pastor Magbadelo Sunday, Aralamo Adekunle, and Salam Wasiu—reported missing. The community was left in shock and mourning.

The incident has since been reported to the Sango Police Command in Otta, where an investigation is underway. Authorities are working to track down the perpetrators and prevent further escalation of violence.

This attack follows a similar incident that occurred on November 22, 2023, raising concerns about the recurring security challenges faced by the community.
