Terrorists struck the Takanai community in Kaduna State’s Zango Kataf Local Government Area, claiming the lives of six individuals on Tuesday night. This brutal attack occurred just five days after another assault in Kaura, which resulted in the death of a woman and the abduction of two of her children.
A witness and the acting Secretary to the District Head of the Community confirmed the tragic incident. According to the witness, the terrorists entered the village around 7:00 pm and indiscriminately fired upon residents, resulting in the deaths of four individuals within one family and two others in a separate family. Shockingly, two children were among the victims.
The witness described how the community initially mistook the gunshots for military activity, only to realize that the assailants were Fulani militants coming from Zango Urban. He mentioned that it was the eventual arrival of the military that frightened the attackers, causing them to flee into the hills.
Expressing deep concern, the witness highlighted the ongoing violence in their villages, despite hopes for a return to normalcy. He called upon the government and the military to intensify their efforts and take decisive action against these terrorists who continue to invade villages and mercilessly harm innocent civilians.
