Kareem Aderemi, a 72-year-old resident of Ede, Osun State in Nigeria, has died by suicide. He reportedly shot himself with a gun at his residence in the Ede area.
This incident was confirmed by the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in the state, Kehinde Adeleke.
Adeleke mentioned that the deceased was facing various health issues, including partial blindness and Parkinson’s disease, and allegedly committed the act due to inadequate care and support.
Aderemi had been living alone for some months before the incident. It was discovered that he possessed a licensed gun, which he always carried due to his partial loss of sight, but nobody was aware that he had a cartridge with which he used to take his own life. The police have taken custody of the gun, and preparations are underway for his burial.
