Yakubu Vong, a 60-year-old man in Barakin- Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State is at the Plateau State Police command, explaining his reasons for setting an eight-year-old girl ablaze on suspicion of being a witch.
Vong alleged that the young girl was the reason behind series of unfortunate incidents within the locality and thus, decided to burn her to death.
Acting like a man operating under curse, the man allegedly decieved the girl into following him into a house, and doused her with petrol and set her ablaze while he locked the door to the room in the house.
It was the cry of the girl that attracted passersby who forced the door open and rushed her to a hospital. Unfortunately, she was said to have died before reaching the hospital.
According to a source, she had second degree burns, so it was difficult for her to survive before getting to the hospital.
