A leading candidate of Lagos West senatorial district, Hon. Solomon Olamilekan Adeola of the All Peoples Congress (APC) popularly known as Yayi, described his main rival in the senate race, Mr. Segun Adewale of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) as nothing but a political neophyte who does not only lack the basic qualities of a lawmaker. He also said that, Adewale does not know or possess what it takes to represent the people.
Yayi, a member of the Federal House of Representatives, who is also the Chairman, House Committee on Public Accounts, said experience counts as far as going to the senate is concerned, and it would not be appropriate to hand the sensitive seat of Lagos West district to a green horn.
Speaking at the Celebrity Roundtable organised by League of Soft Sell Publishers which took place at Excellence Hotel, Ogba, Lagos on Monday March 2nd, 2015, the stylish politician pointed out clearly in his words, ‘Lagos West Senatorial district constitutes 58 per cent of the entire Lagos State, and as a two term lawmaker, and presently a House of Reps member, I am sure I have the experience, the quality and the capacity to represent the people in the senate, and we cannot afford to jettison experience by gambling the people’s future in the hands of those without any legislative experience’.
The politician also added that, his political rival, Segun Adewale otherwise known as Aeroland, is not only a novice in legislative matters, but also, a thug. ‘There was a time during our campaign, that the PDP candidate came to my campaign office with thugs and they started shouting. His boys even assaulted the policeman at the gate of our office and when he was asked what he came to do, he said that he came to complain that some people are defacing his posters’.
The lawmaker wondered if his campaign office is a police station where people come to make complaints. He said that, Segun Adewale’s past is dirty, and that could be traced to a major scar on his face; he is a thug and I cannot afford to give him publicity that he is looking for. I have spent twelve years, serving people diligently and I want to serve at a higher capacity and would not welcome any distraction from him’. He should also work to earn his popularity because I will not allow him to get it through me’, he added.
Hon. Adeola Olamilekan’s full interview will be published soon.
