Jabir Suleiman, a blind man, has been arrested for kidnapping his neighbour’s four-year-old son. He confessed that he needed money to buy a tricycle.
Suleiman was arrested alongside his friend, Bashir Aminu, by operatives of Kano State Police Command.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Magaji Majia, who disclosed this in Kano, said the suspect and his friend, both of Chiranci Quarters of Kano metropolis, are serial kidnappers. Police DSP Majia said the suspects were caught after a botched attempt to collect ransom, following a letter authored by the suspects demanding N2 million from their neighbour to assist in securing the release of the missing child. Majia said the suspects had confessed to having kidnapped two other children within the same neighbourhood in the past, adding that detectives bust the gangsters due to coordinated efforts. The Police spokesperson disclosed that the blind man and his cohort will be charged to court soon to answer charges.
The blind man, Jabir Suleiman said “I stage-managed the act to enable me to raise money to buy tricycle. “I have masterminded two other kidnap operations in the past and I hope the law will give me the opportunity to repent.”
