Suspected armed robbers who invaded a Bank in Kogi State, reportedly killed nine persons on Thursday.
The victims were identified as eight policemen and one civilian.
Among those killed were the Divisional Police Officer in the town, five other policemen and two policewomen.
While the DPO, two policewomen, and four policemen were killed at the Police Station, one policeman was killed at the bank’s premises.
The other victim died after he was hit by a stray bullet.
The armed robbers were said to have invaded the Police Station about 1.00 p.m. and opened fire on all officers and men on duty.
They also set free all detainees in the detention facility.
The robbers later proceeded to the bank where they killed one of the policemen on duty and carted away money.
The Police Public Relations Officer of Kogi Command, William Ayah, confirmed the attack but said the command was yet to ascertain the number of casualties.
