Cleric sentenced to death by Kano Sharia court for blasphemy

The Kano State Upper Shariah Court yesterday, sentenced Islamic cleric, Sheikh Abduljabbar Kabara, to death by hanging, for blasphemy. The presiding judge, Ibrahim Sarki-Yola, sentenced the cleric to death by hanging, based on Section 382 of the Kano State Shariah Penal Code 2000. Police in Ogun have arrested a 49-year-old man, Ganiyu Shina of Oguji Street, Obantoko, Abeokuta, for bathing with blood at a community river, in Kotopo area of Odeda Local Government, Ogun State.
